Impact of Giving

Financial Aid

Gifts to financial aid directly affect the lives of many students and enhance Yale's ability to attract and enroll the best young people, regardless of their financial circumstances.

You can support financial aid by making a restricted current use gift to Yale or by endowing a permanent scholarship or fellowship fund. Expendable financial aid funds start at $50,000. An endowment, whether for a Yale College named scholarship fund or a fellowship fund for the Graduate and Professional Schools, can be established for a minimum of $100,000. Alumni, parents, and friends who establish financial aid funds may name them in accordance with University policy.

In 1963, Yale College adopted the policy of need-blind admissions to ensure a student body of uncompromising quality. Admission of undergraduates solely on the basis of merit has the further advantage of fostering diversity on campus, creating a more open and friendly atmosphere for learning and living. Yale's policy of financial aid is based entirely on demonstrated need.
