School of Medicine

Educating tomorrow’s leaders for a healthier world

Fifty years ago, medicine was on the verge of a period of explosive growth, fueled by innovation and a major increase in scientific investment by the federal government. The second half of the twentieth century was indeed an exciting time for medicine, but even by the measure of its landmark achievements-organ transplantation, open-heart surgery, cancer chemotherapy, vaccines eradicating polio and smallpox, and the revolutions in biotechnology and genetic engineering, to name but a few—the years ahead of us promise to be absolutely extraordinary.

What does the future hold? Basic biology, chemistry, and physics have produced a quantity of knowledge about the human body and a level of detail that can only make us wonder.  Yale School of Medicine is uniquely positioned to lead this revolution in biomedical science by conducting world-class science, providing the best medical care available and educating the leaders of tomorrow.

Our ultimate goal is to improve the health of coming generations around the world. With your investment, the School will lead these efforts and continue forward as one of the world's foremost centers for biomedical research, clinical care, and medical education. Please join us in supporting this important goal.
