School of Forestry & Environmental Studies
Advancing Environmental Science, Policy and Management
Much has changed in the world in the hundred years since the School was founded. What has not changed is the School’s dedication to producing the finest leaders and the finest scholarship. This deep sense of responsibility and commitment continues to guide the School as it moves into an ever more demanding future.
Today the School is needed as never before. As environmental issues have become more complex and more international, the need for professional training in environmental science, management and policy has increased. Environmental education and research must now encompass fields such as taxation, trade and finance, urban development, energy, and transportation requiring fusion of environmental and economic thinking and a willingness on the part of business, government, and environmental leaders to work together to integrate goals and actions. And, the School has a unique capacity to serve as convenor, bringing those key stakeholders together to advance public dialogue, to close the gap between scholarly research and public policy on the critical environmental issues of the day, such as climate change.
With your support, our great school of the environment will be truly an international institution with a profound commitment to achieving a sustainable future at home and abroad.
