Now, you have the option of subscribing to the Yale Tomorrow site through a news feed, providing you with notification when new stories and information are posted.
Feed options
These are some Web-based feed reader options. For more information on how to sign up for and use these services, see the individual sites' help pages.
To receive the news feed, you need a newsreader or other content aggregator. There are several kinds of newsreaders.
- Browser based. Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 1.5 (or later) have built-in newsreaders. Earlier versions of those browsers do not.
- Web-based. These include MyYahoo, Newsgator, Google Reader, and others. For a more comprehensive list, please see the sidebar “Feed options.”
- Desktop newsreaders. These are stand-alone readers you download to your computer desktop.
After you decide which newsreader you would like to use, follow these steps:
- If your browser has a built-in newsreader, click on the little orange button at the top right-hand corner of this page. If not, see Step 2.
If clicking on the orange button brings you to a page of unformatted text, your browser does not have a built-in newsreader. You will need to sign up for a Web-based newsreader or install a desktop version. See Step 2.
With Firefox 1.5 (or later), you can also click the icon on the far right-hand side of the address bar. With Internet Explorer 7 (or later) you can click the icon on the far right-hand side of the toolbar. (To read the Yale Tomorrow feed in Internet Explorer 7, click on the yellow star on the far left-hand side of the toolbar, then click on the “Feeds” tab. To read the feed in Firefox 1.5, go to Bookmarks, then go to Bookmark Toolbar Folder, or Live Bookmark folder.) - To obtain a newsreader, check out the options listed in the sidebar “Feed options.” Select a newsreader and follow the directions on that Web site. It will be a little different for each newsreader.
- Most newsreaders will ask you for the feed url (address). You can copy and paste this address: http://yaletomorrow.yale.edu/feed.xml
- Or you can copy the feed address by right-clicking the orange button at the top of the page and click Copy Shortcut or Copy Link Location.
- Paste the address into the appropriate location in your newsreader.
